Urology

Overview

Urology, commonly referred to as genitourinary surgery, is dedicated to treating surgical and medical conditions affecting the urinary tract and reproductive systems. The kidneys, adrenal glands, ureters, urinary bladder, urethra, and male reproductive organs are among the organs that are covered by the field of urology. Urology combines the treatment of surgical disorders including bladder or prostate cancer, kidney stones, congenital anomalies, traumatic injury, and stress incontinence with the treatment of medical (i.e., non-surgical) conditions such as urinary tract infections and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
