Department of Surgical Gastroenterology (SGE) also known as Gastrointestinal surgery is a highly developed and specialized field of surgery that deals with surgical issues involving the digestive system, which includes organs like the Esophagus, Stomach, Small intestine, Large intestine, Rectum, Anal canal, Liver, Pancreas, Gallbladder, and Bile duct. An expansion of knowledge in Gastroenterology and significant scientific and technological developments led to the evolution of this department from the former General Surgery.
