Pragathi Speciality Hospital

Pragathi Speciality Hospital was established on February 9th, 1998 as a 10-bed medical center in Puttur by doctors U. Sripathi Rao and Sudha S Rao. There were very few private health care facilities in this town with a growing population.

Over the past 19 years, lakhs of patients have benefited from the emergency and inpatient care provided by Pragathi speciality hospital. On February 9th, 2004, the hospital was significantly expanded and moved to its current campus. In 2012, the first paramedical college in Puttur, Pragathi college of paramedical sciences was started.

We were Puttur’s first hospital to receive NABH entry-level accreditation (2019). We teamed up with KMC Hospitals in 2021 and for the benefit of the people in Puttur, they now offer emergency medical services 24*7. In 2022, BC Trust installed a new CT scanner in collaboration with Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP).

About Founders

Dr. Sripathi Rao

Dr. Sripathi Rao is a physician with more than 20 years of experience. He has served for more than 15 years in the government sector. He has served in prestigious hospitals including NIMHANS in Bangalore and the Government Hospital of Puttur. He retired as Puttur's Taluk health officer in 2003.

Dr. Sudha S. Rao

Dr. Sudha S. Rao received her BAMS With a Gold Medal from Bangalore University. She earned her M.D. in Kayachikitsa from the Government Ayurveda Medical College in Mysore in 1994. Since then, she has been actively serving at Puttur and taking part in numerous charitable and educational endeavors.

Pragathi Paramedical College

The Pragathi College of Paramedical Sciences is the first allied health science college in Puttur and was founded in 2013 to train technically qualified professionals for the constantly evolving healthcare sector. The institution is also connected to the Para Medical Board in Bangalore, Karnataka Dr. U Sripathi Rao serves as the college’s Dean, and Pragathi College of Paramedical Sciences is managed by the Pragathi Hospital Education Trust.

100 Bedded Super Speciality Center with Advanced Facilities

The hospital provides 100-bed inpatient services, an ICU, emergency services, a modern operating room, trained nurses, and an OPD. Additionally, services such as ultrasound, X-ray, a 24-hour laboratory, and a pharmacy are available.
